Gary Rautenberg - Principal Clarinet
Principal Clarinetist Gary Rautenberg is an active freelance musician in the Los Angeles area. Studying music from an early age, he holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College and a Master of Music from the University of Miami. Gary also performs with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic and is clarinetist with the Wind Advisory Woodwind Quintet which in 2009 was a featured ensemble at Haydn Hall in Vienna. He has performed with the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra, and the Conejo Symphony Orchestra and was a featured soloist on the accordion with the Syracuse Symphony, and as a saxophone soloist with the Utica Symphony.
As a woodwind doubler and accordionist, Gary frequently performs in the pit orchestras for many musical theatre productions and has performed with a long list of entertainers including Sammy Davis Jr., Liza Minelli, and Gladys Knight and the Pips. He has worked as a studio musician for numerous albums, national television and radio commercials and has performed with the Steve Allen Big Band, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and his own big band Sound Advice.
